COLORADO SPRINGS - High winds caused problems across the Colorado Springs area on Saturday. Two tractor-trailer trucks were blown over on Interstate 25, one at I-25 near the Briargate exit and another near Interquest Parkway. There were no reports of injuries. The accidents tied up traffic for hours. Reports of wind gusts as high as 79-miles per hour were reported in the Monument area.
HIgh winds are also being blamed on a fire at a business in Colorado Springs. Johnson's Pluming is a total loss after winds blew down a power pole sparking the fire. Over 3,500 Colorado Springs Utilities customeres were withourt power for times during the day, most of the city's west side.
Meteorologist Leanne Allison received a call from a viewer who reported a wind gust of 123-miles per hour in the Texas Creek area.
A high wind warning is no longer in effect, but during the day six counties were under that warning through 5:00 PM. Those counties were El Paso, Pueblo, Fremont, Alamosa, Huerfano and Chaffee.
