Colorado State Patrol Trooper in Serious Condition After Crash

RIO GRANDE COUNTY - A trooper involved in a single car crash Sunday night remains in serious condition at St. Anothy's Central Hospital in Denver.

Trooper Ryan Hafner was attempting to locate a suspected drunk driver when he crashed on Rio Grande County Rd. 3 in Rio Grande County just before 9 p.m.

Hafner was transported to the San Luis Valley Medical center in Alamosa, CO and later airlifted to St Anthony's Central with serious injuries.

The crash is still under an active investigation at this time.

Hafner joined the State Patrol in January of 2009.
