Small plane crashes in Montrose neighborhood

Associated Press - November 18, 2009 8:04 PM ET

MONTROSE, Colo. (AP) - A man piloting a single-engine airplane has been treated at a hospital and released after crashing on the sidewalk of a Montrose neighborhood.

Authorities say the plane was nearing Montrose Regional Airport when the engine lost power and clipped a neighborhood tree Wednesday.

Police did not identify the man, but The Daily Sentinel of Grand Junction and The Montrose Daily Press identified him as Douglas Borgo, an emergency room doctor at Montrose Memorial Hospital.

The Montrose Fire Department chief said the plane would remain at the scene until the Federal Aviation Administration arrived.
