PUEBLO – The man tied to several rape cases from all over the country and accused of trying to kill a Pueblo Police Officer appeared in court Monday.
47-year-old Robert Bruce is facing several charges including Sexual Assault, but he was in court today for the attempted murder charges. He is currently being held at the Pueblo County Jail.
Bruce was only in the courtroom for a matter of minutes Monday to set a date for his preliminary hearing for allegedly trying to kill the police officer and his family. Bruce is also accused of the “Ether Man” Rapes that date all the way back to the 90’s in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he allegedly raped at least 12 college students.
He was arrested in October after allegedly trying to blow up the officers’ home with a propane tank. Detectives were able to tie that incident to the unsolved rape cases through DNA evidence. There has been no word yet on if, or when Bruce will be extradited to New Mexico. The Pueblo County DA”s office said earlier this month they will keep Bruce in Pueblo first to face the charges of his accused actions in Colorado.
Bruce will be back in court on December 30th for his preliminary hearing.
