COLORADO SPRINGS - Firefighters have stopped the spread of a grass fire that sparked in a field across from Coronado High School in Colorado Springs Friday afternoon.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time but possible student involvement is under investigation.
Officials say the fire reached over 10 acres but no buildings were threatened thanks to quick acting firefighters who were able to setup containment lines.
Crews closed Fillmore street in the surrounding area of Farnham Point as a precaution.
Elaine Naleski from District 11 says D-11 security officials were at the scene of the fire making sure that students from Holmes Middle School and Coronado High School kept away from the area of the firefighting efforts.
