FORT CARSON - The fire three miles east of Turkey Creek on Fort Carson grew from 75 to 93 acres overnight Friday, but was fully contained by 5:30 Saturday evening. In all it burned 126 acres. Turkey Creek is about 15 miles south of Colorado Springs. The fire is on Training Area 17.
Captain Dorman tells NEWSCHANNEL 13 the fire burned grass, brush, trees and open land. No buildings burned and there are no reported injuries. Captain Dorman didn't know if any military exercises had taken place near the fire. He says the cause is still under investigation.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department, El Paso County Fire and crews from Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Base helped Fort Carson Fire on scene.
