DENVER (AP) - A rural clinic in Custer County and some visiting nurses in northwest Colorado are the state's only recipients of rural development stimulus grants announced Monday.
Colorado was awarded just over $33,000 in two grants announced by the Department of Agriculture. They include $25,000 to a rural clinic and ambulance service in Custer County and about $8,000 to the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurses Association.
The total put Colorado near the bottom. Only six states received less in Monday's batch of grants.
The Custer clinic says it will use its grant to update ambulances with better equipment. The nursing association provides health care in rural communities across the Yampa Valley.
